Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad.

This is a sketch i just finished, of my gorgeous niece and nephew Emma and Jakob.

They live in Munich and the drawing's supposed to be a present for their dad's birthday, which will be celebrated on saturday night. It's going to be a party in a club, with a wild 60ies theme - just thinking about what i'm going to wear ... Off to an early weekend flowers - time to let our hair down and dance!

One cat, two styles

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

A while ago, i got a commission for a cat portrait, and this print is what i came up with. It's a mixture of pencil drawing, painting, printing and a collage technique on the computer. By putting the sketch and the colored parts together this way, i can change the colors and play with them or change the textures in certain parts of the picture. I only use my own textures though, to keep it personal and true to my style.

To illustrate this, i'll show you another version of the cat here - a green and blue one, with a softer fur:

The second one is closer to the photo i got, but the client preferred the first one. Which one do you like better?

A recent illustration of mine that got featured on BLACK FASHION, an inspiring magazine and blog about black fashion and culture - check it out! Those of you who know me know, how much my art has always been inspired by colorful women and works of art from Africa and Haiti. Even as a kid i used to draw black women in colorful clothes and my husband likes to say that i must have lived in Africa in a former life! This illustration however was inspired by gorgeous model Lais Ribeiro on a cover of VOGUE Germany some years ago.

A new portrait i did for a beautiful woman called Anna. Let's get into this tiny yellow car with her and take a ride along the Italian Riviera. We'll have espresso and biscotti in this tiny caf'e on the market place. Shop for some fruits and a new bikini in shady arcades, head over to the beach and walk along the shores, barefoot, before going for a swim in turquoise waters ... are you with me still?

This is a new illustration i did for my dear friend Anne-Claire. She's a fabulous Lady who has lived through some hard times lately. Now, after a bad depression, she's getting into full swing again and i just saw her riding this vanilla scooter, wearing a pink dress and a fancy, handmade bag. This is a Look from Kate Spade - and it fits her so well,. She's a talented needleworker and knits and crochets the sweetest things, But she also is a great writer and just started her very own blog to tell her story. Happy weekend flowers! And hurry up to make the best of your weekend! Wait a moment:Isn't the weekend ll about slowing down? Just find your own tempo and go with it - no matter where you go!

The day kind of overwhelmed me with a can of Espresso exploding on my stove and covering the whole kitchen in Coffee! This is why i fell from my pink cloud and have keep this post really short and simple - much cleaning to do!

In der letzten Zeit habe ich viel an Designs für Stoffe gearbeitet und einige Hunde portraitiert. Das hat mich auf die Idee gebrach, diese beiden Dinge zusammen zu bringen und eine Serie mit verschiedenen Hunden vor ornamentalen Hintergründen zu machen.

Es sind inzwischen ca. 12 von diesen Bildern entstanden, die ich als Kunstdrucke in limitierter Auflage anbieten will - die Serie heißt " Chouchoux du Monde" - was man mit Lieblinge der Welt übersetzen könnte ;) Hier kann man sie bestellen.

Macht Euch also darauf gefasst, in Kürze noch mehr "tierische" Kunstwerke hier zu finden! Ich wünsche Euch ein wunderbar entspanntes undn inspirierendes Frühlingswochenende - Ah, der Fliederduft in der Luft!

I've worked a lot on design ideas of fabric lately - and did some dog portraits. So i got the idea of bringing these 2 things together and creating a series of dogs in front of ornamental backgrounds. The series is called Chouchoux du Monde" and it's available as limited edition art prints - in case you need a little present for a dog lover - or yourself! You can order the prints here.

Another weekend os here. It looks damp and grey here today, but i love the smell of lilac in the air and the gardens around look so beautiful. Hope you'll have a relaxed and inspiring time to "freshen up your batteries" lovelies. Will come and visit you soon!

Be a Yoga Goddess

I love doing Yoga! Yoga practice is part of my life since the age of 18 and has stayed with me since. I haven't become perfect in the poses, i'm not yet enlightened and not over-ambitious, yet the practice and i have established a steady relationship, that helps me get through the ups and downs of life and stay sane. Stretching the body is also stretching and relaxing the mind and each pose teaches you different things.

Also, and maybe most importantly, there is meditation, which i do every morning before i start may day. It feels so good to let go of everything and just BE - breathing in, breathing out, connecting - with your own higher self and with the world. I feel, that meditation gives me a lot of energy and makes it possible, to stay present during the day.

In that way, Yoga also makes me sparkle - like a shower for the soul. Do you have a little ritual, that you love? I'd like to hear about it!
