Flower-Power

A painting from last winter. It suggests that the colours and flowers of summer have not died, but have a life of their own - in her imagination or on her brazilian style carneval-hat? We all need some little tricks to survive the flowerless time!

Paint it black

African woman have always inspired me in my art - their hairstyles, colourful outfits and elegant movements. Also, i like the contrast of dark skin and bright colours. Most people turn black in my paintings - maybe part of me is african? These paintings are not really finished, but i like them this way, leaving space for imagination.

Garden of Transformations by Sabina Wörner

The studio I work in has always been a sanctuary or retreat, a garden with paintings full of floral motives and lately lucious human figures, enjoying bacchanal moments with nature in their own, specific way. My personal paradise garden, where I could create a world i didn't feel I had around me in daily life. This, combined with my experience of living in different countries and cultures led to a series of paintings: Woman, depicted between flowers that I feel relate to them. They all have in common that they lived in different cultures and have undergone an intense transformation.
There are now 12 paintings of 170 x 140 cm. There will be more.
The women are from Marocco, England, Scotland, Serbia, Ireland, Germany, Brasil, Suriname, Turkey and U.S.A. All, with one exception, are living in Amsterdam. Maybe Amsterdam is the Garden of Transformations?
Put together, the paintings create a kind of garden, a Hortus Conclusus.
There will be a large table in the middle and maybe plants and flowers. There might be soft music and inspiring essences. It will have a meditative atmosphere and preferably be presented in a part of town with a great mixture of foreigners and religions. A non-religious meeting place for a peaceful, colourful moment.

Luminous dots

From a recent series of paintings still on the easel - a trial on how light sometimes desolves things, makes things look different and puts them in a new perspective.  A theme i will gon on working with.

More dots

Another stillife, simply two cups on a line in a childlike manner, reminding me of how i used to draw and paint - and feel, as a child. The Adenture of experiencing a new world on a piece of paper or canvas, like Mary Poppins hopping into a painted landscape on the sideway.

Lots of dots

A shower of snow or flower-petals, the polka dots on my grandmas pottery, the dots that digital pictures are made of - i love dots love to have them on my paintings sometimes. Last year i've done a series of stillifes that show the longing for simple things and pleasures in a complicated life - complicated but fun!

Erste Versuche

Wow, doch gar nicht so einfach herauszufinden, wie das alles funktioniert!
Inzwischen wird es vielleicht Frühling und ich vergesse, dass ich das eigentlich nur so nebenbei machen wollte ...
