The color of my mood is ...

The garden of my mind ....

spills over into my studio, and  brightens winter days with the sunshine i'm missing!

 I do love these vibrant yellows, golds and oranges, although of course i also love the pre-chrostmas season. It's currently quite warm here in germany, but we rarely see the sun and the blue sky is veiled by thick layers of white,foggy clouds. The world seems crazy right now,  and so in need of light, love and peace please!

We've recently been to Berlin to celebrate the first official song release by one of my favorite artists ever,  not just because he's our youngest son ;) His artist name is "Schlindwein" and the song is called "Higher" - and it just takes you higher ...and higher .... have a look here and dance with me:

Autumn carries more colors in its pockets than all the other seasons.

 Dear friends, it's been a long while since my last post. As time flies and my days are very full at the moment, i decided to unable comments for now. Know that i think of you and miss you - and appreciate your kind visit very much.

I've been inspired by Octobers vibrant palette and have worked on a series of new paintings with abstract botanical impressions. The picture above gives a glimpse of Indian Summer in my studio, which is still in full swing and will be celebrated in style here soon.

I hope November is warm and cozy on your end, and you enjoy the golden leaves flying in the air as much as i do!

In der letzten Zeit habe ich viel an Designs für Stoffe gearbeitet und einige Hunde portraitiert. Das hat mich auf die Idee gebrach, diese beiden Dinge zusammen zu bringen und eine Serie mit verschiedenen Hunden vor ornamentalen Hintergründen zu machen. 

Es sind inzwischen ca. 12 von diesen Bildern entstanden, die ich als Kunstdrucke in limitierter Auflage anbieten will - die Serie heißt " Chouchoux du Monde" - was man mit Lieblinge der Welt übersetzen könnte ;) Hier kann man sie bestellen.

Macht Euch also darauf gefasst, in Kürze noch mehr "tierische" Kunstwerke hier zu finden! Ich wünsche Euch ein wunderbar entspanntes undn inspirierendes Frühlingswochenende - Ah, der Fliederduft in der Luft!

I've worked a lot on design ideas of fabric lately - and did some dog portraits. So i got the idea of bringing these 2 things together and creating a series of dogs in front of ornamental backgrounds. The series is called  Chouchoux du Monde"  and it's available as limited edition art prints - in case you need a little present for a dog lover - or yourself! You can order the prints here.

Another weekend os here. It looks damp and grey here today, but i love the smell of lilac in the air and the gardens around look so beautiful. Hope you'll have a relaxed and inspiring time to "freshen up your batteries" lovelies. Will come and visit you soon!

Painting summer

This summer so far, has been a very mixed up one - sun and rain, in the outer, as well as in the inner world. Life has been intense - we went on a gorgeous trip to Italy, a very good friend of mine got seriously sick, we had  lovely visitors and went to an amazing art festival, another friend of ours suddenly and totally unexpectedly died ... 

Maybe that accounts for my temporary slowness in blogging - i feel a bit overwhelmed and have to let it all settle in. I've got tons of pictures from my camera to sort out, lots of work on my desk and lots of things i'd like to show you soon. For today, just a light little glimpse of something on my desk - a little fashion drawing i've been working on.

Monday Love: Pure energy

Happy start to your week lovelies!

While it's grey and rainy outside here, i want to show you the color combination, that revives my energy right now: Golden yellow, hot pink, soft pink, purple, white and a dash of light citrus. This is a triptych from some years ago, but i feel like making something along these lines now. What makes you happy these days?

touches of lemon

When life gives you lemons and for some reason you can’t make lemonade, find a recipe for a lemon cake. The secret is to turn bitter into sweet and darkness into light. 

And anyhow, happiness is in the right mix, i think. A dose of lemon, or, at least some bright yellow color, adds instant brightmess and cheer - to a wall, a day, an outfit, a drink, a mood - especially in winter!

Monday Love: Cupcakes!

Just a sweet little something to add some sweetness to your monday - whatever else will be on your plates today. Only good things, i hope! i baked these with shredded coconut mixed into a vanila dough and the frosting is just 2/3 cream cheese with 1/3 whipped cream, sugar and lemon rind - and a drop of red food coloring for the pinkish color. Have a delicious day!

Have a drink with me!

If you were to ask me if I'd ever had the bad luck to miss my daily cocktail, I'd have to say that I doubt it; where certain things are concerned, I plan ahead.

There are two things i really find very stylish and glamorous and, since i cannot have them on a daily base (like good old Bunuel, who's films i adore), at least i must have them from time to time. One is teatime and the other is coctail hour. 

May i introduce: This is the new "in" coctail here in europe this summer, it's called "HUGO", and it's wonderful fresh and light. You take a little bit of elderflower-syrup, fill it up with half champagne and half water, add some lime juice, some fresh mint leaves and a few ice cubes or crushed ice. Just the right thing for people like me, whoi sometimes like a little "kick" but without so much alcohol - give it a try on a nice summer evening!

P.S:: Surrounding it, you get glimpses of the colorful mess in my studio  – recognise the little shoe-painting? Hope your week is rolling on nicely my lovelies, and that you get to enjoy the best of august!

 Monday greetings from my studio! Although i do have a lot of work, i was painting quite a lot these days and am getting back in toi the swing and groove of colors. To me, painting is a bit like composing a piece of music - and it feels good wehn you manage to strike the right notes!

Hello lovelies, how are you?

This is just a little art post in between my blogbreak to tell you i miss you!  Some amazing pieces i saw at an artfair here a while ago by an artist called Eva Schaeuble. I really fancied that yellow vase in the first picture! There are 3 things i'd like to collect if i was a collector - exept of art  in general - and these are vases, chairs and shoes.

Colorful summer

 

 

Color is ... pure emotion!

There is something about the combination of pink, yellow and turquoise that makes my heart sing. Its a long weekend here in germany, the sun is shining, a nice wind is blowing - and i'm so in the mood for colors! These fabulous interiors styled with lots of pretties from the new rice denmark collection really gets me going. 

And - to tell you the truth, i'd love to get all crazy and cover our walls in pink, yellow, turquoise and violet! Since i'm living with 3 men (and one tomcat), i'll rstrict myself to canvases though, and maybe one or the orther burst of color in the garden ;)

Monday Love: Sour sweetness

Do you love the taste of lemons?

I do! And somehow today, as if there weren't a 1000 other things on my mind, i find myself thinking about making lemon curd. It's yellow, it's sweet and it's special (at least over here in Germany) ... and easy to make. And there are so many fun ways to enjoy it: on joghurt, on toast, on scones, on cakes ... it just adds this lovely cheese-cake flavour to anything.  Have you ever tried making it? Monday Love: Spring is in the air!

Just because ... 
Times are strange at the moment - so much suffering and tension everywhere i look. Why does this have to be so? A wonderful guru from India i once met at a retreat, Soham Baba, said, the world is like a golden coin, and it has two sides.  We cannot have one, without the other.  Where there is light, there is shadow also. Yet, since the news are so depressing, i feel that here in blogland, we are aiming for balance - by concentrating on the bright side, by putting so much energy in showing each other, and manifesting, the beauty and goodness of live, again and again. I'm so glad we can share this - not because we are blind to the "real world", but just because ...


This is a painting of mine from some years ago and it's one of those i don't want to part with. It was inspired by spring, by sunshine, the happy tunes of tulips, daffodils and forsythia - and Fauns and Kentaures by Picasso. I feel drawn to these wild, magical creatures as they resonate with the wild side of life, with playfulness, innocence and nature.

A painting from last spring, celebrating the yellow things, that so belong to the beginning of spring - even if lemons don't really grow here ;) Everything is easier, when spring is in the air and the evenings get longer again ... Today, i've had my first Cappuccino sitting in a café outside - to good to be true!

Friday Pretties: A new painting

Something i just worked on. Sorry, the photo came out a little blurry. But you get the idea.

My artist friend Andrea is working over this canvas with a net of tiny silver dots, and i'm curious to see how this will turn out. We will present it at an open-house event soon, and i'll post aboot it as soon as i get to take some pix next week. Yep - so true this quote! Have set myself the aim, to start on a new painting-routine, for otherwise my days are too crowded now and i'm too tired in the evenings to get involved in creative adventures. Yet i miss them so much! Making the magazine is creative too, but i need the living colors, the smell and feel of them. Hope to blog about this soon. The green and yellow stillife above is something from last winter that keeps inspiring me along the way.

Friday Pretties: Some paintings in progress

Happy friday!

A quick peek into my studio wirh an assembly of paintings – finished, unfinished ... I always like to see paintings assembled as groups, influencing each other, forming something like a tune. I can never work on just one canvas a time, there always have to be more of them. And the, looking is just as important as painting. Looking, contemplating the next step – always an adventure!

... at least i often think so, when i look at my own paintings. Somehow my goal is, to open up space and colour, not filling it with too many things. It is difficult though. Things and people are vital, and they do get in to my work and demand attention. These two are from an older series of stripes and flowers. I hope to get on with my new series over the weekend.
