Stardust memories

All colours will agree in the dark.

Two little blue paintings of a series of four that i'm working on - since quite a while. They have been changing -until now they resemble treflections of the night sky in a pond, lit from the inside. They are quite dreamy, but yet the blue is strong and vibrant and the small dots of color shine like exotic fishes in the ocean.

Hope your week gets of to a sparkling start lovelies! Enjoy the summer sky and the heavenly blue hour just before darkness if you can - the hour, when the work is done and people in Italy assemble in bars for their "Aperitivi"  - a ritual i like very much and think about importing here.
Drinks, some small bites and relaxed chit chat, before everybody goes home - or - elsewhere - to have dinne., A casual celebartion to let go of the tension of the day, to shake your feathers and dive into the moment.

 Join me tonight?

I'm summer, come, run along my beaches, loose your thoughts in my rays of sunshine, dive into my oceans ...

Dear friends, it's been a loooooong while since i last posted here - do you guess where i've been? It wasn't easy going beach life all the time, but somehow, summer took me on it's wings and carried me away. Making the long days seem short, giving me so much to do while at the same time making me .... not exactly lazy, but stretching my inner life out in various directions. These pix were taken during a trip to the Italian riviera, and i'm going to show you more of the colors of Italy here soon.
Hope you're having a splendid summer so far and send you a fresh ocean breeze!

Vibrant Blue

Colors are brighter when the mind is open.

Happy start to your week lovelies!

Am sending you LOVE and some fresh, bright blue with golden sparks, which is exactly what my soul is craving for tight now. These are 3 paintings i did last summer and they express that wonderful invigorating energy of the water element.

I keep thinking how vital the deep blue oceans are - for the planet and for all of us - and of course for all the precious creatures living in it - now being so endangered. A kind of private "ocean awareness". I wish i could do more, to clean and heal that deep blue yonder, that carries the mystery of life.

The year started out with an exiting group exhibition along the theme of "Orange", where my art was shown alongside great artists i admire - like Picasso, Matisse and Baselitz. It was a show in a little museum not so far from us. The curator had the concept, of showing hobby artist, mid career professional artists like myself and famous artists, all united by one theme - isn't that a fun idea?

Right now, it is carnival season here in germany, and you see people dressed up in funny costumes everywhere. Due to various reasons haven't blogged in quite a while and i have missed you!
How did your year start? I can't wait to come visit you all!

Ocean feeling

A new series of canvas paintings in BLUE, celebrating the ocean and the healing energy of the water. We had wonderful summer weather over this long weekend and i took my colors outside, which felt wonderful- I also had a lovely friend visiting, a trip to town, a delightful party to go too and a lot of wonderful food to eat. What have you been up to my lovelies?

Friday art: Feeling blue

There is no blue without yellow and without orange.

Lots of blue notes in my studio these days, given that i'm a pink and red person normally! But sometimes i crave blue. That magical blue you sometimes see in your window, just before evening.  Blue can be deep and dreamy but also very comforting and relaxing.  What's your favorite color at the moment?

Monday Love: Into the blue

A blue monday ...
is a free monday, and i'm having one of these today. Am feeling rather out of it - headache, stomach ache, backpains - all good reasons to do nothing but read, sketch and occassionally have a cuppa and a little mouthful! I hope this plan works out today!

These two blue paintings are a from a series i did with my artist friend Andrea König.
In this case, she lay a cobweb of tiny silver dots over the paintings. The structure looks different in the changing light and sometimes gives the impression of movement - quite fascinating!

I always like to work in layers, one partly veiling the others. It takes trust, to let someone else do part of the work for you, when your art is concerned - surprises guaranteed!

I've been tagged ...

 Something old
(A painting i did a long time ago)

Something new
(A painting that is not finished yet)

Something borrowed
(A pair of paintings by fellow artist Susan Brown)

Something blue
(A pair of paintings on my studio wall - i can't part with them)

And something more blue
(Also by artist Susan Brown)

... tagged by my dear blogfriend Anita from "Castles, Crowns And Cottages" with a special task to compose a post with

something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

That sounds nice - like a poem, and since this is an art-blog, i decided to show you some paintings of mine and some of a fellow artist i like - enjoy looking!

And i'm passing the task on to

Saskia from Join my joy
Gwynnie from Gwynnie B. Designs
Chrissy from cul*ti*vate
Andrea from Andrea creates

Have fun with this project!

Friday Pretties: Blue flowers

Don't you love feeling blue sometimes?
I feel like taking a little break in outer space right now, or at the blue lagoon, or in the desert, where the night skies must be vast and the stars huge and dripping with light. I heard that the bushmen even hear the stars making sounds, and i'd love to find out wether i could hear them too.

This painting was done after reading a lot of Laurence van der Post, a south african author who wrote wonderful books about the bushmen and the animals of his country. The painting is long sold, but i remembered it today, because i craved this kind of deep but friendly blue. The kind you sometimes see, just before it gets dark. In Aura Soma colour-therapy the blue bottle stands for peace and peaceful leadership.

Have a colourful weekend with everything you like best - i'd be happy to hear from you!

A day in venice, a drink and a painting

My wednesday artbreak is a little trip to venice.
This time just a virtual one, but i've been to this beautiful place often, and recall the hapieness i've always felt, sitting ion a boat and approaching the laguna with all it's treasures.

A typical drink in venice, and at the moment practically everywhere in Europe is Spritz - a mixture of Aperol, Prosecco or white whine and a dash of sparkling mineral water, sometimes garnished with some orange peel and ice. It's very delicious and refreshing  - give it  a try tonight!

This painting was done in a venetian spirit, reflecting blue skies and ocean, golden frames, marble floors and fruits, warm from the sun. Have a beautiful day everyone!

Let your art guide you - weekly challenge

Still working on the peonies. I've posted this painting the other day, but this time painted the flowers.

No finished artworks, just glimpses of my messy studio.
I've been playing with shades of blue, letting the colour run and drip while contemplating about water and how precious it is. Can't get that oil spill out of my save the live of the ocean - but what to do?

Meanwhile my friend Andrea saved a little baby titmouse her son found on the street, naked and almost dead. With a lot of love, warmth and many insects they managed to bring it to live, and it grows from day to day, growing feathers and flapping it's tiny wings. Reminds me of a quote i read the other day by mother Theresa:
"We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love"

I hope you've had some creative adventures as well and can't wait to visit you soon!

Little dots - Forgetmenots

A photoshopped picture from Robin in the garden - i love those light blue dots! Have i mentioned before, that dots make me happy? That's why i want to paint them all the time!

Blue flower

... feeling blue doesn't always have to be bad. Feeling blue can be wonderful! It makes you dream and relax and let your mind drift to heavenly places - a good colour for stressed people!
