Sour and sweet

Sour and sweet is the taste of life

Some street art from Italy - just impressions i caught, while walking the little streets of the ancient town called Albenga, situated at the Ligurian coast.  The combination of zesty yellow, sweet pink and mellow grey is something i want to use in one of the next paintings. Yellow and pink is my happy combination, and the grey and creamy white ads a touch of softness to the mix.
It's grey outside here and soft rain is falling. Am preparing for a weekend visit by two close friends of mine, and look forward to an exciting film-premiere on sunday, featuring the work of some people very dear to me -more about it in the next post!

Looking at those lemons, i'm thinking about making lemon spaghetti for lunch today, so easy and delicious! Find the recipe here!

I'm summer, come, run along my beaches, loose your thoughts in my rays of sunshine, dive into my oceans ...

Dear friends, it's been a loooooong while since i last posted here - do you guess where i've been? It wasn't easy going beach life all the time, but somehow, summer took me on it's wings and carried me away. Making the long days seem short, giving me so much to do while at the same time making me .... not exactly lazy, but stretching my inner life out in various directions. These pix were taken during a trip to the Italian riviera, and i'm going to show you more of the colors of Italy here soon.
Hope you're having a splendid summer so far and send you a fresh ocean breeze!

Monday Love: Stripes

I love stripes.
And sometimes, i also love to paint stripes. The first two and the fourth picture are paintings of mine - the first one got sold to a winery and decorates their very modern tasting room (1st photo).

Painting stripes has a meditative quality about it. You don't have to think about what you paint, you just go along with the process, intuitively choosing colors.

Stripes can be seen as a lot of things. A landscape, a bookshelf, a window with curtains, a fence, a deckchair, a pattern - and they always seem to have an easy, playful quality about them.

I love the arrangement of colors in this  elegant living room

Stripes look good on dreses too - but really what caught my eyes in this picture was the quilt in the backgroung - isn't it striking?

Hope your week starts on an easy, playful note as well. As far as i'm concerned, i feel a lot of pressure at the moment. Maybe stripes can ease my mind!

April colours

I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.
Claude Monet

Real flowers and painted flowers on a painting of mine i saw in my sisters flat last weekend - they match so well in colour, just by chance!

I love it, if things and events in our lives suddenly reveal a connection and fall into place. It feels like we follow some hidden pattern, a secret melody we hear only with our subconscious mind but that leads us on the right track somehow.

Follow the way of your heart, and you can't go wrong!

Less is more

... at least i often think so, when i look at my own paintings. Somehow my goal is, to open up space and colour, not filling it with too many things. It is difficult though. Things and people are vital, and they do get in to my work and demand attention. These two are from an older series of stripes and flowers. I hope to get on with my new series over the weekend.
