Orange Art

Happy November bloggy fellows!

This month arrives here with full force and a mouth full of wind that just stripes the trees naked in almost one go. Here's some vibrant color mix for you to keep warm. A recent collage painting featuring a fruit i can't live without: Oranges! Aren't they just like little suns, so pretty to look at and so delicious to eat? Hope the week goes well for you - i feel like snuggling in with a goos book and lots of tea - and a lot of oranges!

Painting: Martina Voigt-Schmid, also available as a print in the shop.

Monday Love: Underwater Magic

Howdy lovelies, happy new week to you! Are you feeling up to the challenge of everyday life, or would you rather dive into an ocean of fantasy and imagination?
I recently came across the magical work of Saruyi, an artist from Japan, who creates fragile, luminous underwater creatures and worlds that look so real and so alive, although they are made of fabric and fiber.
Her ongoing project  Urban Aquarium “explores the concept of being ‘out of context’ and ‘displaced’, something she experienced by being relocated from Japan to Australia and other stations. Her artistic underwater world is shown in unexpected places throughout the city of Portland, where she now resides and works, to offer views into a world below the surface of busy "Hustle and Bustle". To find out more about the various jelly- and starfishes, visit her website here. And find more nature inspired art in the wonderful blog "Dearest Nature"

Colored raincloud DIY

Does it rain a lot where you live right now? Here, it does! Colored leaves are getting wet and we're getting this November feeling already. In case you feel inclined to craft away with kids some of these days, here's a little project i did for the KidsLife fall issue: A cozy felt cloud with colored pompoms-rain. It's really easy and fun to do - and if you know how to sew well (unlike me ;)) - it'll turn out even nicer!

Hope you're having a fabulous fall weekend - will be round to visit you for hot chocolate!

Painted leaves

Bittersweet October.  The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.
Carol Bishop Hipps

Leaves are falling here now - our lawn is all scattered in yellow, red, orange, gold and brown, and when i walk to work by foot, as i often do, i love to look at the leaves on the pavement like little fished in a pond. I spotted these fabulous pictures over at my spanish blogfriend Elena, and just found them so magical i had to show you! Have a fab midweek, love from germany!

Blueberry monday

How was your weekend lovelies? Did you enjoy the lovely fall weather and vibrant colors? We had a brilliant time on saturday, strolling through town, along the river, and sitting outside in the sunshine for a bite to eat and looking at clouds of birds assembling for their flight towards south.
.
Some art vitamins for your monday: Two different blueberry collage-paintings i did recently. The first one was a custom order, painted on a vintage cardboard, the other a little canvas which is now available as print in my shop here
These prints and  on canvas and paper ship directly from the USA, which is great, because i had problems several times with sending something overseas from germany. It took weeks and weeks to arrive and everyone thought, things had been lost. So this sounds like a good solution.

Have a fabulous start to your week and see you soon!

Have a sweet weekend!

Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.

Ha ha, do you think so too? We have the loveliest weather here, and i'm looking forward to being outside a lot - to the farmers market, to town with friends, to the river and the vineyards ... and also to the garden where the lawn is covered in leaves already.  I spent the last days  creating little things around a christmas theme for my magazine KidsLife, which was fun - more about it soon. Sadly also, i had a terrible headache that only seems to vanish now, while sipping hot chocolate, feeling completely exhausted. Sunny autumn days are so dreamlike. What are you up to these days?

Wow, i'm in love with these pretty things from Doloris Petunia. I'm maried already, i know - but, a girl can dream sometimes, right?  At least a little bit, in her coffee break ;) Wish i could share a cup with you right now and send you some gorgeous espresso smell and a virtual cupcake to whereever you are!

Monday Love: Pretty bowls

Happy new week lovelies!

How are you these days? It's really fall here now and the mornings and evenings are darker and colder. I love the colors and atmosphere of this time of year, but feel a little slower and need some extra glam to get going. Like pretty gold plated bowls, made from paper maché.

Am currently on the lookout for new DIY ideas for my magazine - and came across these pretty gold plated bowls by Kelly Murray. They are a bit complicated to make with kids, but i still love them so much i'd like to show them to you here. It's not soooo long to go now now until christmas ...

Friday art: Feeling blue

There is no blue without yellow and without orange.

Lots of blue notes in my studio these days, given that i'm a pink and red person normally! But sometimes i crave blue. That magical blue you sometimes see in your window, just before evening.  Blue can be deep and dreamy but also very comforting and relaxing.  What's your favorite color at the moment?

Look!

Need something to make you smile today?
These cardboard monster-owls by artist Rob Pruitt put a big smile on my face - so creative and fun! Shows how important it is, to keep the inner child alive to make great art.  Now lovelies. let's PLAY a little bit today and see things from a different angle. We have lots of cardboard boxes left ...

Weekend in sight!

Autumn mornings: sunshine and crisp air, birds and calmness, year's end and day's beginnings.

Fall is really upon us now - wind, yellow leaves, rain on my way to work ... and somehow i like the cozy feeling it brings. It makes m feel like drawing in and write a book. Ha ha, i actually collect ideas for a cookbook for parents, with a great TV cook i know here in germany. More about this - and my new paintings - soon.
Meanwhile here are some beautiful scarves, cushions and bags i discovered at Proud Mary - a little shop worth exploring  to bring some fresh wind into your warderobe!
