Cold Weather- Warm Colors

It's true, paintings do generate light if colors are used in the right way, and the vibrations of color can literally warm us, cool us, make us feel safe and happy. The new paintings above carry the rich and tropical shades i crave for right now.
Christmas time has officially started and i wish you a lovely week, filled with the smell of cinnamon, apples, oranges and wintergreen twigs!

Mexico Feeling in germany

Happy Summer Blues

Yesterday, i delivered some paintings of mine to a lovely client who lives not far from me. We tried and tested several pieces on the walls of her unique attic flat and she chose 2 that she liked best. I loved her mix of rustique elements like wooden ceiling beams and terra-cotta floor tiles with modern design classics like the sienna chairs in her kitchen and flashes of bold bright colors, like the little yellow metal locker.

The blue painting "Summer Blues", from my latest summer series looks amazing in this environment. Surprisingly, it adds a sense of both spaciousness and   playfulness and brings a mexican feel to the environment.  The "Little Faun" painting also looks really bright and happy next to her bespoke kitchen and wounded staircase.

The late summer sun made the colors dazzle and shine, and we sat for a long while in her beautiful green roofgarden, having coffee and cake with another friend, who helped hanging the paintings.

It's one of the best experiences as a painter, seeing how ones work looks in a new environment and how - if well chosen -  it transforms the whole room and brings it to life - like music.

I hope you're all having a delightful late summer weekend. Excuse my slowness in blogging at the moment, but since i'm busy putting another issue of "KidsLife" together and lots of social life going on here, time just flies. Will come visit you over the weekend though - put the kettle on!

Pretty things

Have been painting outside a lot lately, and enjoy how nature and the spirit of summer flows into my work. I don't paint what i see right now, but what i feel - energies, vibrations, how one thing communicates with the other, water, air, light, stars, molecules - you see, i'm a little high on summer right now and a bit "off" - which happens, when i paint.

Here's a little peek into my home - with some new paintings in the background. The pink orchid amazes me daily with her glamour, the little plate is something my son brought from Zimbabwe recently  and the round thing is actually a beautiful candle holder i got from a friend - it makes beautiful shadows when lighted!
Have a happy weekend lovelies!

I've listed this post on "Flowery Friday!, a Link up celebrating the beauty of flowers, initiated by the lovely Trishe. Want to play along too?

Ocean feeling

A new series of canvas paintings in BLUE, celebrating the ocean and the healing energy of the water. We had wonderful summer weather over this long weekend and i took my colors outside, which felt wonderful- I also had a lovely friend visiting, a trip to town, a delightful party to go too and a lot of wonderful food to eat. What have you been up to my lovelies?

Monday Love: Scarlet Pink!

Roses are red my love!

Some bits of vibrant color from my weekend - some of my red paintings i got back from a recent exhibition, lots of roses in different shades of red, some from out of our garden, some given to me as a present by my lovely painter friend Sabina Wörner, who shares my love for Scarlet & Pink.

Scarlet Pink is also the name of a fabulous new magazine, celebrating artists and creative living. Some of my dearest blogfriends like Anita and Victoria are amongst their contributors, and i'm so exited to be one of the featured artists for the upcoming summer issue.
Will keep you posted when it gets published.

Have a super start to your week my lovelies, my your days be sprinkled in rose petals and garnished with laughter!

P.S.: Regarding the riddle in my dog poster: The dog not listed under it's real name was the Chinese crested dog. i put it under the name of !Quastl" - because of the shape of it's tail ;)

Garden of Transformations

The "Garden of Transformations"
is a project by my painter friend Sabina Wörner from the Netherlands. She did  a series of 12 vibrant portraits of women from different countries, all of them now living in Germany or Holland.

All of them, as well as Sabina herself, who switches between Germany and Holland and has an english background. had to transform their personalities, their habits, their way of living to something wider - and surely more colorful. Most of them have experienced pain and loss, yet the women shown in these paintings all look fresh and alive ans yes - sparkling, i think!
To find out more. you can visit Sabinas Website here.
There will be an exibition of this Series on the 6th of march in Cologne - watch the website for details! And have a lovely midweek!

painted fashion

When in doubt, wear red ...
Or - wear black and paint red?

Some new picture from a sunday painting session with my art-sister Andrea König.
She's the woman, who loves to cover all her canvases in deep, bright red - a royal, impressive powerhouse of a color.

Sometimes we do collaborative paintings - and this time i joined in by adding a mysterious, kind of seductive figure of a woman, who moves through the red, dotted with solver, as though she moves through a silver veil, while listening to her own music ...

It was fun! The painting isn't finished yet, for there will be another layer of silver dots later - i'll show you, how it proceeds.

Send some LOVE

 A little cup of Friendship
In this cup of tea,
When you sit and drink it,
Think of Love from me.

We still need lots of cups of tea here in germany to keep us warm, since it is still rainingand raining ... Today feels cozy though and my plans for the weeked are:
writing to friends
visiting some of them
 making some wine-jelly
... and if i have energy enough, getting on with my latest paintings.

What are your plans?

Send some LOVE with MVS-Art cards, now available in my shop!

New lemon painting

If life gives you lemons ...
make gin & tonic!

OR make a painting! Hubby and i start each day with a dose of lemon in our tea. And, since he always says he can't live without lemons and gets really cranky if we don't have them in the house, i thought it might be a good idea to paint him some for his birthday.  Besides that i like painting them anyway. Have combined the yellow with caribbean kind of blues, some collaged in specks of gold and added a black background for a male accent in the picture - do you like it?
In the second photo, i've put the painting in a setting from Oyoy, so you can see how big it is in reality.

Hope your week get's off to a super start. Will come round and visit you all this evening!

Pink Chandelier Paintings

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles.

Some new paintings i'm currently working on - just waiting for the right time and energy to get them finished. They are kind of like a mix of various elements that could be this and that - little collections lit up by ornamental chandeliers. Something is still missing for my taste, but i do love the color scheme. Pink and yellow has something, that makes me happy. What do you think?

It finally starts looking like spring here, it's warmer and yesterday we ate a meal outside - in the evening sunshine, which is still hard to believe for me. Hope the sunshine is with you too and am sending you lots of love!

Friday art: new simplicity

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

These are two paintings of mine from some years ago i recently came across in my archive. They reminded me of my momentary crave for something simple and yet powerful.

My life has been really complex in recent times, joggling the making of our magazine and keeping it alive, family, art – not easy to handle. As a result of that, i find myself a little stuck in my work as a painter. I feel like i'm on the edge of something new and hope that spring gives me the energy to bring it to bloom - let's see!

I'm thinking
color, ease, good vibrations, collectedness, light, energy -
and all of these things i want to wish you for your weekend too!

Spring is almost here, and in case you're looking for some new shades:

Pink it up!

Some Pink living with art-inspiration to get you in the mood for spring! Adding a new color to one of your walls or a new painting can switch the whole mood of a room. I am always dreaming of having one color scheme for winter and a different one for the warmer season. Do you love to redecorate?

A feast of colors

The ultimate of being successful is the luxury of giving yourself the time to do what you want to do

I just did the layout for a poster, announcing the upcoming exhibition of Sabina Wörner. We both met at art school a looooong time ago and have been friends in life and in art ever since. I just love the cheerful energy and baroque opulence in her paintings, as well s her vigilance to deal with the inevitable ups and downs of an artists life.

For those of you who can manage to visit Cologne in March at that time - it'll be sure a happy event and a feast of colors. See more of her paintings here.

And have a bright and lovely weekend of course - will come round for a visit!

Friday Art: landscapes by David Hockney

Just came back from visiting one of my best girlfriends and art-buddies, and a great exhibition in Cologne -  " A bigger picture" by british artist David Hockney -  Landscapes in bold colors and textures he has painted mostly within the last 10 years. I have always been a big fan of his work and found it amazing, how young and energetic he still is with 74, embracing new ideas and media to work with.

Quite a number of artwork were created by him on his i-pad and then printed on big paper sheets and put together - like the first image i posted here.  This technique allows him to work very fast and spontaneous, and he uses it with masterly skill. I would never have thought that digital prints could have almost the same impact as oil-paintings - but they did in this case. And i really want to try this myself - ha, i need an i-pad!

I also visited the current exibition with paintings by my friend, Sabina. These i'll show you another time. Meanwhile, all this was really a feast for the eyes and i will digest it over the weekend, reveling in bright greens, pinks, oranges, blues and purples. Hope you're having a fabulous time lovelies - am sending you COLORS and LOVE!

Friday art: Hydrangeas in winter

A recent tryptich on canvas  fresh from my studio. It combines winter fog and caribean blue and green with one of my fave flowers: Hydrangeas. To me they are beautiful in every^stage of their life - just like a real good woman - ha ha!
Have you scheduled  anything nice yet for your weekend? I'm planning on a visit to a real gorgeous spa with my hubby, to just let go and relax - and make the best of a November, that turned out really grey here in Germany.
