Underwater sunhine

There are two kinds of light - the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures.  James Thurber

A recent painting in soft shades that has something like a mother of pearl glow to it. Even thougn i didn't really plan on painting an "octopus garden" it looks like just that to me. Light that shines into an underwater world, where plants and sea creatures sway in a soft, iilluminated ocean breeze. It is very interesting how, when a painting is done in an intuitive way, it develops a life and a will of it's own!

How's your summer so far my lovelies? Here, it's unusually cool and even in July we need a fire or warm blankets to sit outside on most evenings. But it's quite a lovely weather to get things done and the light, filtered by clouds is good for painting.
I look forward to visit you soon, cheers to a lovely weekend!

The Yellow Cat Painting

What the garden whispered to me on a yellow summers day ...

A painting of my little feline friend, venturing out into the garden on a summers day. Light dappling through leaves and branches, flowers exhaling scent, petals falling down from the trees, berries glowing un the shades of rose bushes.
Tiny insects dancing in a sunny haze, a bird  singing somewhere high up. Maybe not to high, maybe aware of velvety paws approaching over an emerald lawn ...
After all this cat, dangerous to feathered friends as he might be, sometimes just liked to roll around beneath the tulips and daffodils, lazy and tipsy from all the ebautifull colours and snells that surround him.
It's still winter here in germany, but earth is preparing for spring. nd spring already started here in my studio, More glimpses of what i'm working on in my next post.

The color of my mood is ...

The garden of my mind ....

spills over into my studio, and  brightens winter days with the sunshine i'm missing!

I do love these vibrant yellows, golds and oranges, although of course i also love the pre-chrostmas season. It's currently quite warm here in germany, but we rarely see the sun and the blue sky is veiled by thick layers of white, foggy clouds. The world seems crazy right now,  and so in need of light, love and peace please!

We've recently been to Berlin to celebrate the first official song release by one of my favorite artists ever,  not just because he's our youngest son ;) His artist name is "Schlindwein" and the song is called "Higher" - and it just takes you higher ...and higher .... have a look here and dance with me:

Autumn carries more colors in its pockets than all the other seasons.

Dear friends, it's been a long while since my last post. As time flies and my days are very full at the moment, i decided to unable comments for now. Know that i think of you and miss you - and appreciate your kind visit very much.
I've been inspired by Octobers vibrant palette and have worked on a series of new paintings with abstract botanical impressions. The picture above gives a glimpse of Indian Summer in my studio, which is still in full swing and will be celebrated in style here soon.
I hope November is warm and cozy on your end, and you enjoy the golden leaves flying in the air as much as i do!

Painting summer

I have been quite busy in my studio lately. trying to make the best out of summers expansive energy. The big canvas paintings i'm just about to finish capture the warm, yellow golden glow of sunshine in the garden, the play of light and shadow, the sense of things blooming and ripening, while we feel relaxed like the black cat, sunshine on her fur..
I hope you're all having a bright and wonderful start to the your week and enjoy the best of August!
Spring greetings from my studio!  I'm working on some new canvases and like always, when i start on a painting, let myself be guided by intuition and let my hands pick the colors, instead of consciously choosing them. Currently, i feel inspired by crystals, gemstones and ordinary stones. The shapes they have, formed by elements, the different structures, the light they emit and the light they catch and magnify.
Spring has officially started but there's a chill here in the air today - and i'm in a dreamy mood. A day for hot soup and tea and cozy reading time. What are your plans for the weekend?

Colorful details

Some powerful colors can work like an art-vitamin booster sometimes. As the days are getting longer and brighter, i feel that my energy to work on canvas paintings comes back. Currently inspiring to me are beautiful crystals and minerals with their crystalline structure and high-vibrating energy.
The pictures above feature a painting of mine, a collage book given to me by a friend, a small bouquet of dried hydrangea and stones from around my house.
Have a  sparkling week lovelies - the power is with you!

Welcome to a new chapter ...

... and relax into Abundance! That's what came up, when i was pondering on a  motto for 2015.
Relax - and allow the year to unfold, as you also allow yourself to unfold and tune into what is already there: The richness of your inner being, the treasure of your experience!

I'm curious, as to what 2015 will bring for me - and for us. New challenges, new adventures, new beginnings. I personally feel a desiree to simplify. To do less. To trust more. Of course, as always, i see tons of things i'd like to do, bring on their way, finish or to go on with. And i'm sure that as always, i will be busy. But somehow i also see a change of energy - subtle, not easy to grasp for the mind - and it has to do with the motto above.

I hope the New year will be healthy, happy, prosperous and wonderful for you dear friends. Stay tuned and see you soon!

Blue Flame Painting

Happy new week lovelies,
hope you keep your light shining, as we move into the dark season and days are getting shorter and shorter. Even though November is a bit gloomy and the lack of daylight can get people down, i like this months spirit. The misty "Fiametta" painting you see above was done in summer in the garden, but it also reminds me of a fire in winter, of morning and evening mist, of sundown and lights flickering in peoples houses or in the sky.

This weekend i will be hosting a little Art & Chocolate" event in our house and also in blogland.
Come back here on friday and link in to share your best chocolate recipe or a piece of art you've made or you simply adore. Can't wait to meet up and share the fun!

Pink & Mustard

small painting of mine from my summer garden series. Played around with it a bit and put it in the pretty living room setting above. found on ELLE Decor. The soft shades of light pink, pearl grey and golden, mustardy yellow create a  delicate atmosphere and play in tune with the misty mornings and bright afternoons of october we have here. Hope your week is swinging along nicely - dare to dance to your own tune today!

Painting Summer

I want freedom for the full expression of my personality.

Ghandi

Little garden painting catches the golden specs of the late afternoon sun - playing on the leaves, illuminating little things flying about in the air, enhancing the rich shadows beneath dark green leaves. Actually, when i was painting, i didn't think anything at all, but just let my hands and imagination play - while being outside - in the garden.
It's late summer here now with hazy mornings and sunny afternoons, mellow, sweet, like a ripe yellow apple or apricot. What do you like most about September?

Summer Blooms

A recent painting with ornamental Hydrangeas floating on on a cool, turquoise and white background.
Hope you enjoy the best of July and have a fantastic week ahead. Beauty, colors, heavenly scents and fine textures - nature is just too precious to not be enjoyed. And with all the madness that happens in the world around now, it's important to choose: peace, abundance, beauty and joy!

Little Garden Painting

Summer set lip to earth’s bosom bare,
And left the flushed print in a poppy there.

Francis Thompson

Something that came to me, while i was painting outside, in a soft summer breeze. It's a small painting 30 x 40 cm, mixed media on canvas - one of a series of 3. Hope you enjoy June so far - for me, it should be 3 times as long! This coming weekend brings the summer solstice and the longest night of the year. And it falls on a saturday - anything planned yet to celebrate?

A bit of art & a bit of fashion

The sweet smell of spring is in the air ...

and on my way to do some groceries i see white and pink and yellow, so fragile and so pretty! I smell something like honeysuckle and cherry blossom and the sky is baby blue. It makes me feel happy, but also a little off my usual tempo. Like i just want to sit and dream and let myself float along with the fluffy white clouds. You get it - kind of a difficult day to get some work! done
The little painting above just swings in this mood, although it was done in the winter.

Am glad the weekend is almost here, although it's supposed to bring rain. I plan to have a stroll over the flea market and the farmers market, work on some drawings i started, meet some friends i haven't seen for a while and dive into the pages of a fabulous new magazine called Scarlet Pink. Fashion, Art, Music, Culture - just love that mix. And am doubly exited because a lovely and talented blogfriend of mine is one of the contributors - do you guess, who it is?

Bold, bright, beautiful

Women must tell men always, that they are the strong ones, They are the bog, the strong, the wonderful. In truth, women are the strong ones. It's just my opinion, i'm not a professor.
Coco Chanel

A recent fashion portrait of my friend, gorgeous actress Sophie Sutton from NYC.For me, she's like the embodiment of what i love about New York - not only bold, bright and bbeautiful but also sophisticated, witty and - so much fun to be with!

Fall queen

A new painting from a red series i did, mixed-media on canvas. I called this one "Fall Queen", because it captures the royal abundance and yet the simple quietness of this time of year and also of a certain time of life ...
Cheers to a super new week - let's celebrate octobers golden grapes and silver cobwebs - am grateful for your friendship and support

Celebrate fall

Celebrate fall, by taking a long walk this weekend, By revelling on colors, light and smell,

... which are all so abundant this time of year. Who need aroma-therapy of you can have this?

I really do need some time out this weekend, for the last 10 days or so have ben crazy and very strenuous. I had to travel to Austria, because my dad got very sick but, after we all thought we had to say good bye to him, he surprised us with  a sudden boost of recovery. He's breathing again, eating and making grumpy remarks about the hospital food and all this proves to me once more, that miracles are possible!
Hope life is good for all of you and am sending you Sunshine!

Say Yes!

Say Yes because - did you notice? Yes is always stronger!
The Yes painting, along with some vintage shopping treasures: a pair of handmade shoes from Venice and a funny little Pola dot-bag that adds a little fun to any outfit.
Am looking forward to a leisurely sunday with a long family brunch and more painting time later.
Cheers to a lovely day - and to a bright and fabulous Yes week!

The Golden Lemon

Spice it up!

A new little lemon collage painting, mixed media and vintage paper, scribbled over by my artistic grandmother.. I called it the Golden Lemon, because - the background here is golden.

I discovered this metallic paint and went a little crazy with it, covering several canvases with its subtle, golden glow. I love it, because i paint in layers and the gold is a little transparent to let shine through, what is underneath, yet it adds a certain structure and "body" to the painting. And i think yellow and gold is a great combination anyway.

"The Golden Lemon" here in germany is something not so nice - a prize for the worst piece of architecture - tee her, please forget about this, while looking at my post!
Hope your week starts out lovely - sometimes a little bit of lemon is all you need to spice it up!
