Happy easter!

While we celebrate Easter here in Europe and in America, in India they celebrate Holi, the festival of colors, which sounds wonderful to me! Tried to combine them both in this photo – to send you happy easter wishes and blessings from my studio!

The music of spring

Do you hear the music of spring?
It is cold still and the colors have not yet appeared.
Maybe there is snow still, but the light has changed somehow
and blackbirds are singing in the morning.
I want to bend and stretch and shed my winter skin.
I want to dance to that little tune
in a ray of sunlight amidst the bare trees.

A little poem that just came to me over morning tea and while looking at these gorgeous photos of our lovely friend Juli. She is such a talented photographer and does unique photo-sessions that show the things, a person might not talk about in a very artists way. Often, she also does special costumes to create a mood . Have a look at her site for more. And also, have the most sweet and special day!

Something to think about ...

On the night of Pesach:
'Withdraw into yourself and look; and if you do not find yourself beautiful as yet, do as the sculptor of a statue....
Cut away all that is excessive, straighten all that is crooked, bring light to all that is shadowed...
Do not cease until there shall shine out on you the Godlike Splendour of Beauty; until you see temoerance surely established in the stainless shrine.
Plotinus

Happy week of easter dear friends!

DIY egg-art & easter break

It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
Mark Twain

Dear friends, due to an upcoming trip as well as much work ahead, i'm taking a little break from blogging until one week after easter.

I'm leaving you with a little last minute easter project for all those who didn't get around to painting those eggs. For an easter brunch you can transform the white beauties in a minute, by wrapping them up in some pretty ribbons and pearl. It's a fun thing to do and adds a festive note to your table. This was taken at a friends house, where me and i tried it out for you. Hope you're having a grand old time while i'm away  -  enjoy the arrival of spring - and feel the LOVE!

Monday Love: Spring (Fashion) Fever

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

We have had fresh snow here this weekend, but, spring is definetely in the air and green bulbs are sneeking out fronder the white blankets. As leaves and flowers unfold, it's also time to stretch our wings a llittle, sing a cheerful song in the morning and add some new colors to our wardrobe. Sometimes, i love to play with clothes and create new styles for myself - don't you?

Love this fresh but somehow unusual combination of navy with pastel. peachy shades. The navy gives a kind of strength and structure to the light, sweet macaroon colors. And for me, it looks perfect for the days of early spring, even i'd replace the shorts for something longlegged.

Hope your week gets of to a bright and sparkly start. Will be going to Munich on wednesday, for a business meeting and visit my sisiter and her family, so it will be some busy days for me.

But before i go, i want to announce the winners of my recent eyeglasses giveaway.

Friday art - Getting started ...

With color one obtains an energy that seems to stem from witchcraft.
Henri Matisse

Maybe that is why it feels so invigorating to spread colour, revel in it, enjoy it, the pure energy of it. Beginning this way, just painting freely with a colour, is such fun. I wish i will learn to keep this lightness for the whole time of working on a painting!

Just a short post at the end of a busy week. Am sending you LOVE for a happy weekend!

Bold, simple & light - Danish with a twist

The greatest step towards a life of simplicity is to learn to let go.”

I recently came across OYOY,  a new Danish interior design company. Their printed textiles and housewares with bold and easy shapes and patterns are inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese design and are simple and eyecatching. Somehow the style of designer Lotte Fynboe's graphic colours and fresh designs resonates with my recent theme of simplicity Don't you just love the light in these pictures? Now with spring just around the corner i show you a little preview of their Spring/Summer collection for 2013..

Monday Love: Turning stairs into art

Some amazing street art  that caught my eye. Isn't it stunning, how just a bit of color can have  such a dramatic impact to an otherwise quite bland and grey scenery? Well, it's more than a bit of color, in all of these cases it's a LOT of color, and a lot of work and creative imagination. And it's wonderful to see how people care - and put so much effort into making life more beautiful and creating a colorful surprise for others.

So, if your week seems like a steep grey stair to climb sometimes, think of how you can transform the experience - into a piece of art. Because:

Friday art: new simplicity

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

These are two paintings of mine from some years ago i recently came across in my archive. They reminded me of my momentary crave for something simple and yet powerful.

My life has been really complex in recent times, joggling the making of our magazine and keeping it alive, family, art – not easy to handle. As a result of that, i find myself a little stuck in my work as a painter. I feel like i'm on the edge of something new and hope that spring gives me the energy to bring it to bloom - let's see!

I'm thinking
color, ease, good vibrations, collectedness, light, energy -
and all of these things i want to wish you for your weekend too!

Spring is almost here, and in case you're looking for some new shades:

Pink it up!

Some Pink living with art-inspiration to get you in the mood for spring! Adding a new color to one of your walls or a new painting can switch the whole mood of a room. I am always dreaming of having one color scheme for winter and a different one for the warmer season. Do you love to redecorate?

Have i told you that ...

I guess there is some truth in this. When someone gives us a nice compliment, we instantly feel better, things look brighter. Life is more beautiful when we feel beautiful and loved. So, why be sparse with compliments and things to say and do, that make other people sparkle?

When i saw a recent post of Anna from IHOD, i thought, it's a fantastic idea to make this March the month to encourage beauty. By making someone feel good about themselves every day. And also telling ourselves, how awesome we are ;) March is a month or renewal, beginnings and changes - let's make use of that energy!

I designed the image above as a little freebee for you. You can download it and send it to your friends, you can print it as a card or use it on your blogs.
